After becoming a Christian at University Tim started volunteering with Student Community Action on local housing estates with marginalised young people and found a life long passion for how faith, action and justice go together.
Since graduating in 1993 subsequently qualifying as a youth and community worker then M.A's in community education and youth ministry and theological education, he has worked with marginalised young people and done community development in Cambridge and now in Birmingham.
Since 2002 Tim led Worth Unlimited working with marginalised young people, engaged in asset-based community development and small scale social enterprises. More recently along with Ash Barker, Tim helped establish Urban Change Makers www.urbanchangemakers.org investing in young high potential working class leaders to be agents of change around community building, community campaigning and community enterprise in their neighbourhoods.
Tim loves supporting other with a passion to see justice so sits on the Board of Thrive Together supporting churches to tackle poverty, he is Chair of UCC supporting a school and orphanage in Ghana, and co-chair of Anvil Trust developing shalom shaped theological education.
Tim believes in incarnational living, and since 2004 has lived in the Firs and Bromford, a wonderful outer estate in Birmingham, sitting on the local residents Board, chair of Governors at one of the local primary schools, Chair of 'Open Door.' the community development organisation of his local church, helping establish a small missional community and now an expression of neighbourhood church. He lives there with his wife, 2 daughters and foster children.
