Incoming General Secretary of Churches Together in England
Mike Royal is the incoming General Secretary of Churches Together in England CTE from Spring 2022. Mike was recognised as one of 26 Black Male Christian Leaders making an impact & having an influence in the UK, by Keep the Faith Magazine in 2019. Mike was the Co Chief Executive of Cinnamon Network UK, a charity that helps churches with their community engagement both online & through a team of advisors; recommending churches to adopt best practice church led social action projects. www.cinnamonnetwork.co.uk & www.cinnamonconnect.co.uk.
Mike is a founding trustee, former Chair, former national pioneer & former National Director of Transforming Lives for Good TLG, an award winning organisation working with children and young people at risk of exclusion from school through early intervention programmes and setting up Alternative Provision Schools and Early Intervention initiatives throughout the UK. www.tlg.org.uk.
Mike is a leader, speaker, activist, social entrepreneur, policy adviser and a passionate communicator on issues of racial justice, children and young people, educational exclusion, and how the congregations can better engage in church based social action and social justice.
Mike has a first class honours degree in Urban Planning and a Masters Degree in Black Theology from the University of Birmingham. He is currently working closely with local and central government agencies focusing on these issues. He also sits as a Non Executive Director on a number of NGO's working in Birmingham UK and West Africa. Mike was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in 2010 (FRSA).
Mike lives in Birmingham UK and is happily married to Viviene for over 29 years. Mike was consecrated as a Pentecostal Bishop in 2016 having been ordained as a Pastor in 1993. A few hours a week working as a Mental Health Chaplain keeps his feet firmly grounded in reality!
