Eco-Justice

Here's a 23 minute film of an editted Conversation between Helen Burnett, Philip Powell, and Sally Mann

They discuss the first three stories in the book :

Rebel for Life: The Making of a Queer Christian Climate Activist by Cathy Chapman

The Prophetic Pivot and the Food Processor by James Pickin

Igniting the Church’s Passion for the Climate by Laura Young

Questions for you:

  1. Do you see yourself as part of or separate from God’s creation story? Can you recognise the implications of this in how you live?
  2. James shared moments which acted as “prophetic pivots” and Philip described small acts as “micro-aggressions” and “micro-revolutions” towards eco-justice. Recount any similar moments in your life. How have they led to deeper or more radical acts?
  3. Have you ever thought about God’s very good creation in your most familiar locations? For example, the streets you travel daily for work, or the places you visit frequently? What difference has this made to your daily practices?
  4. These stories invite us to consider intersectional approaches – seeing things from the experiences of those who are often pushed to the margins of power. What steps can you take to broaden your learning by listening to global and diverse experiences?
